Fan and fan drive unit are the only moving part in a cooling tower.

1. Cooling tower's fan is an axial-flow type of variable pitch with 4 - 10 blades. The blades shall be made of aluminum alloy or FRP.

2. Fan drive motor shall be design accordance with I.E.C. Standard. The motor is suitable to outdoor operate with cooling tower circumstance. Electric voltage is 380 V, 3 Phase, 50 Hz with star delta starting system.

3. Fan gear drives shall meet or exceed the requirements CTI standard. Thai Cooling Tower use gearbox speed reducer (with safety factor > 2), all gears and roller bearing are lubricated in oil. Give a longer servicing time compared to belt drive.

4. Fan stack shall be made of FRP with a minimum wall thickness of 8 mm. The fan stack shall be designed for energy saving with the velocity recovery at inlet and outlet. A well designed and fabricated fan stack is resulted in good air distribution, high fan stack efficiency and low vibration of fan stack.
